We're Hiring Election Inspectors Right Now!

Each year the Board of Elections hires 400 to 450 people to work as Election Inspectors to conduct fair elections that meet NYS Election Laws, for Oswego County. Working as an Election Inspector is a good opportunity meet and greet your neighbors, and although it is a long day, it is very rewarding to know that you have provided a worthwhile service for your community.

To be qualified to work as an Election Inspector you must be a registered voter in the county, either in the Republican or Democrat Party, be able to speak and write English, and be able to work the entire shift as we do not split shifts. As an Election Inspector you will be required to take a 2-3 hour training class and pass a mandatory written test. Individuals who successfully complete the test will have a one time payment of $30.00 added to their pay the first time they work at the polls.

Primary Elections hours are from 11:00 A.M. to 9:30 P.M. and General Elections are from 5:00 A.M. to 9:30 P.M.
