OSWEGO - The Town of Oswego Planning Board has begun the process of updating the town's comprehensive plan. The planning board will meet at 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 20 at the Oswego Town Hall, 2320 County Route 7, to gather public input and begin revising the first two sections of the plan.
Judy Sabin-Watson, planning board chairwoman, said the board was given responsibility by the town to update the plan. The board is seeking input from town residents throughout the process.
"The Town of Oswego Planning Board and staff from the Oswego County Department of Community Development, Tourism and Planning will work together to provide the community with a comprehensive plan that includes recent and relevant data which reflects the Town of Oswego's unique assets and is consistent with NYS Comprehensive Plan enabling legislation," Watson. "The planning board is interested in engaging the community and has adopted a year-long process that includes providing topical information for discussion every month."
One or two topics will be discussed and revised each month over the next 12 months. The first two sections, introduction and statistical analysis, and historic resources, will be discussed at the Nov. 20 meeting. Other sections include transportation, infrastructure and utilities, housing, community facilities, natural conditions, economic development, land use and community design, and new concepts or trends.
"The planning board will devote the first portion of its meeting to the comprehensive plan update process," said Sabin-Watson. "Public input is welcome at all the comprehensive plan meetings."
Town of Oswego residents who are interested in participating in the planning process may call the Oswego Town Office at 315-343-2586 or e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org.
