Oswego County Shared Services Plan to be Presented Oct. 11

OSWEGO, NY - The Oswego County Shared Services Plan will be presented in a public forum from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 11, in the Oswego County Legislative Chambers on the fourth floor of the Legislative Office Building, 46 E. Bridge St., Oswego.

A law passed with the 2017-18 State Budget required counties' chief executives to convene a shared services panel of all chief elected officials from the towns, villages and cities. School districts could participate voluntarily by invitation. The panels were mandated to develop county-wide shared services plans and submit them to the State by Sept. 15, 2018.

"This public presentation of Oswego County's plan is the final step to be in compliance with the State's law and make the County and participating municipalities eligible for partial reimbursement if they complete any of the shared initiatives described in the plan," said County Administrator Philip Church, who was tasked to chair the panel.

Town supervisors, city and village mayors, and the county administrator met for the past two years to develop a plan that includes 19 initiatives with a potential annual savings of $1,534,122. The plan can be viewed online at www.oswegocounty.com.
