Responsibilities and Services: Probation is a service provider within the county's community corrections system responsible for four major services: (1) Conducting pre-sentence and pre-dispositional investigations for all courts in Oswego County, (2) Supervising persons sentenced by the courts to a period of probation and persons released from the Oswego County Jail by the local conditional release program, (3) Attempting resolution or out-of-court adjustment of numerous family related problems (intake), (4) Collecting and disbursing restitution monies for crime victims. Probation personnel work to balance two major concerns: the behavior of the individual and the safety of the community.
