Safety Training Institute

The Safety Training Institute held annually in June, offers courses
in a variety of recreational areas. Through this program, the
Oswego City-County Youth Bureau provides certification bearing courses. Examples of these programs include:

Lifeguard Training - includes coursework in waterfront coverage
CPR For the Professional Rescuer and 1st Aid (3 certificates issued). Must
be at least 15 years old to take class, must pass precourse swim test.

National Archery Association Archery Instructor Course
Level I Basic - will certify program specialists. Course will qualify
basic archery instructor for camp/youth programs. All equipment provided
(but participants are welcome to bring their own). Must be at least 15 years
old to take class.

National Archery Association Archery Instructor Recertification Certificate Course Level 1 Basic - class is available. Please call our office for details.

CPR for the Professional Rescuer - covers CPR for
Adult, Child and Infant, 2-rescuer CPR, use of a bag-value-mask resuscitator & pocket mask. Will
meet NYS Health Codes for any camp staff.

CPR for the Professional Review - (Students must have current cerfification.) ECC Guidelines have changed and new books will be distributed. New protocols will be reviewed and new skills will be demonstrated, then practiced. All students must pass written and skill exams.

Wilderness First Aid - will
meet NYS Health Codes for camp medical staff, directors, trip leaders,
etc.. Certificates issued in 1st Aid.
